Message from Mrs Birch

Mrs Birch
Mrs Birch - Headteacher

Wow – what a creative musical week we have had! It began early on Sunday morning as a group of Year 4, 5 and 6 children set off to sing at the Royal Albert Hall with Miss Lewis, Miss Woods and Mrs Pullen. I understand that the children were incredible both in their performance and with their behaviour. On Monday, we had the first of our termly Rock Steady concerts and we are very excited for the next groups to perform this coming Monday. Following that, we were treated to a beautiful version of The Boy, The Horse, The Fox and The Mole for our Lower Key Stage 2 performance. I was so proud of all of the children. Thank you so much to the staff and parents who make it possible to provide our children with such amazing experiences.

Eid al-Fitr

We are aware that many of our Muslim children will be absent from school at the beginning of next week. We hope that you have a wonderful family time - Eid Mubarak!

Is My Child Well Enough for School?

As there are currently a number of coughs, colds and potential tummy bugs circulating, we have had many questions about whether or not children should come to school. I direct you again to some really useful guidance from the NHS, which covers a range of childhood illnesses: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/. As a general rule, children are fine to come to school with a cough or a cold however, if they have had a sickness bug, they should remain home for 48 hours after the LAST bout of sickness or diarrhoea. Many thanks for supporting both good attendance and a healthy school community – I am very aware this is a hard balance to maintain.

Open Classrooms

Our next Open Classrooms event will be this coming Monday (31st March) from 3:15pm to 3:45pm. This is an opportunity for you to come into your child’s class to look at their learning in books and on display. While staff may be present in the room and will be happy to answer questions, it is not an opportunity for detailed discussions. You can always make an appointment at the school office.

Sharing Assembly

Just a reminder that Reception Turquoise will be presenting their sharing assembly on Thursday (3rd April) at 9am. Parents / carers wishing to attend should go to the school office.

Scooters / Bikes on the Playground

Another reminder that children (or adults!) who travel to school on a scooter or bike should dismount when entering the school property. We request that these are not ridden around the school site due to the number of people walking around before and after school. We need to avoid an accident. Many thanks to parents for supporting us with this.
