Message from Mrs Birch

Mrs Birch
Mrs Birch - Headteacher

Christmas has most certainly arrived at Galley Hill this week! We hope that all parents and carers who came to watch the Reception performances have loved them as much as I did. I felt very emotional seeing our youngest children perform their songs so beautifully. Thank you so much to all involved. I must say another enormous THANK YOU to Miss Reardon who organised our Christmas Craft event on Wednesday. She spent much of her own time putting together this opportunity for our children and we are incredibly grateful.  We also had the wonderful West End for Schools come in to present the Pantomime Dick Whittington and his Cat which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Wednesday 11th December

The Christmas fun continues next week, including next Wednesday which is our Christmas dinner in school. Additionally, we are holding our annual Christmas jumper day which is an event that is just for fun and there is no cost involved. Children can choose to wear a Christmas jumper, t-shirt or dress with their usual school uniform. Finally on that day, the whole school will be having Christmas Musical Showcase with each class performing a Christmas song for the rest of the school. We are very much looking forward to holding this super Christmassy day with the children.

Value of the Month

Our value for the month of December is, very aptly, ‘thankfulness’. We will be talking about what it means to be thankful for all that we have and show gratitude. We will be grateful if you could also reinforce these messages at home.

Christmas Dinner Day - Wednesday 11th December

On Wednesday 11th December the children will be having Christmas lunch at school. The children can order this on the day and this is charged at the same price as a normal school meal (those who are in Reception to Year 2 and those who are on benefit related Free School Meals can receive this meal at no cost.)  The Christmas lunch can just be paid on Arbor under Meals and this is open to everyone, even if your child does not normally have a school lunch.

Children in Need

Thank you to everyone who donated on our non uniform day for Children In Need. We raised £272 from donations, and this is on top of money raised from the sale of the official merchandise. Thank you as always for your support.

Christmas Class Parties

Each year group will have their own Christmas party which will take place in one of the halls. The children will get to enjoy dancing, party games and squash and biscuits. They are also able to bring in a change of clothes for the party should they wish.

The timetable for these parties are:

Nursery, Reception, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6 - Wednesday 18th December

Year 1 and Year 2 - Thursday 19th December
